Enduring question for 2014-2015: "What is freedom and what are people willing to do to get it?"
MWH Collage Binder Cover
The very first assignment students are asked to complete is to read the one page syllabus and then create a collage that presents their understanding of the content we will be doing this year in MWH. They may use any two dimensional media they want (magazines, junk mail, cereal boxes...) and are encouraged not to go directly to the internet and print out pictures that are the result of a rudimentary search. Instead they are to let images and colors, words and phrases, shapes and designs lead them to creating a visual statement that expresses their ideas of what we will study this year. This is a sampling of the finished products.

ReplyDeleteRelevance is the concept of one topic being connected to another topic in a way that makes it useful to consider the first topic when considering the second. The concept of relevance is studied in many different fields, including cognitive sciences, logic, and library and information science. Most fundamentally, however, it is studied in epistemology (the theory of knowledge). Different theories of knowledge have different implications for what is considered relevant and these fundamental views have implications for all other fields as well.
