SCPA Modern World History 2014-15
'What is freedom and what are people willing to do to get it?' will be our overarching question for this year.

Question 1: The Greatest Generation
The World War II generation has often been called The Greatest Generation. What is it about this time period that would justify this label? Do you agree with this assessment of the people who lived through the war years? What of these qualities do you think your generation can aspire to have?
Question 2: Heroes
Many people think of movie stars as heroes because of the roles they play in films. Based on what you have learned about your topic, who were the heroes in your story? Did they have particular qualities that made them more likely to be heroes? Are there qualities that you aspire to have based on what you learned about your topic?
Question 3: Personal Observation
Film is a form of art that looks to engage the viewer and draw them into another time and place. Would you recommend the film (that your work is based on) to others? What about this particular film inspired you? Is there any part of this film that made you think differently than you did before you saw it?
Question 4: Sharing your work
Which of the other blogs did you find most interesting? Did any of them make you want to watch the film that provided the inspiration for the research? What topics would you like to find out more information about?
Question 5: Process
How did this process (using artifacts to research a topic, using the voice and perspective of something inanimate to explain the topic, comparing film as an art form to the reality of a topic) help you to get a better understanding of the WWII era? Is blogging something that you can see using for other areas of study?
