Many people think of movie stars as heroes because of the roles they play in films. Based on what you have learned about your topic, who were the heroes in your story? Did they have particular qualities that made them more likely to be heroes? Are there qualities that you aspire to have based on what you learned about your topic?
Maria was seen as the hero in The Sound of Music because she helped the Von Trapps learn about happiness and music. She wasn't very strong physically but she was a mentally and emotionally strong woman that made her seem like more of a hero. I do wish to be as strong as she is but then again that was only in the movie. The real Maria wasn't as good.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my stories were the ones who were starving to death, getting beaten, and being forced into labor by the Japanese, but still went through it, and did what they could to fight for their freedom. I want to be like them. I want to be brave enough to stand up for myself, like the general at the camp stood up for his men. I want to be courageous enough to help prisoners escape so that they can live a better live. I want to be all of these things.
ReplyDeleteIn my topic the Navajo Code Talkers were the heroes. They were brave enough to use their knowledge for their country in such a horrific war. I want to be brave when my country is in need no matter the conditions.
ReplyDeleteIn my movie, The Memphis Belle, the 10 soldiers that flew the 25th mission in the plane were the heroes. They gave hope that even though most people had no money and food that they would still live through the end as long as they pushed as hard as they could. The soldiers showed that strength and to believe in each other was the best thing. In the movie it was almost dead on to the real thing. This showed that anything could happen as long as you stay strong and do what ever you can to help in the time of need.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my story were the ones that were being pressured and forced to fight to fix the Nazi's mistakes. The Jewish could have said no and not have fought alongside the Nazi's but in order to keep themselves safe they did whatever need be.
ReplyDeleteThis is a complicated question for me, seeing as my project doesn't directly correlate to a single person or event. I'd say one of the heroes for my topic is the USO organization. Along with supporting the soldiers, the USO sent around people like Bob Hope and Dick Powell to entertain soldiers behind the front lines. They helped to keep the soldiers as happy and entertained as they could despite the war they had to fight.
ReplyDeleteCuba Gooding Jr. was seen as the hero in Pearl Harbor movie. He was a farming boy and played he joined the Navy as a mess attendant, third class, but was soon promoted to second class, then first class, and finally to ship’s cook, third class.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my story were the brave soldiers that risked their lives for the innocent people whose lands and towns were getting invaded by the germans. They did have particular qualities that made them more likely to be heroes like for example the soldiers were willing to risk their lives for the safeties of others. The qualities that I aspire to have based on my topic is that I may be able to help those who cannot help themselves.
ReplyDeleteIn the movie The Last Metro the hero was Marion Steiner and everyone else who protected Lucas Steiner from being turned in by the Nazis even though if the Nazis knew that they were hiding a Jew they could face serious consequences. I do not think the heroes in my movie had really special qualities they protected Lucas Steiner be cause it was the right thing to do. If you count doing the right thing as a quality than yes I think thats a quality I aspire to have.
ReplyDeleteIn my topic i don't exactly see a hero, the main character is Jewish and hides by trying to act not Jewish, but it is more self defense. A hero to me is someone who looks out for others and makes sure others are okay which he doesn't do. The only quality i would want from this character is his ability to out smart the bad people. I think to others he is an inspiration, and to me he is an inspiration to never give up, but he is not a hero, and neither is anyone else in my topic.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my story were the American tank drivers because even though they knew they were outgunned by the German tanks they still bravely drove into battle against them. I think these brave men are people i can aspire to be like. They were braver and more courageous than anyone i've ever known. For them to be able to rush into battle, against more advanced tanks, and still come out with a win, is amazing to me and i hope i can be half the men they were in my lifetime.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my story were the refugees who walked thousands of miles to escape beatings, starvation, and certain death. The thing I aspire most about these men and women were their courage. They didn't even have to say anything, the way they courageously escaped was enough for me.
ReplyDeleteDespite the title of my movie, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, there was only one definite hero. That hero was Jack Celliers. If it hadn't been for him, Captain Yonoi would have never felt a single hint of compassion or mercy towards the British Prisoners of War. There wouldn't have been any change in the prisoners' treatment, and things would've continued to look grim. Although the prisoners were still treated harshly, Jack Celliers showed Captain Yonoi a new outlook and perspective on the world - thus causing change within the Captain little by little.
ReplyDeleteIn my movie the hero was Leopold. The way he saved and hid the refugees was truly heroic. Since this movie is based completely from fact the real life Leopold saved many lives and lost his own. He had the courage to stick his own neck out for some people he didn't even know. There needs to be more people like that. I definitely aspire to be like that.
ReplyDeleteIn my movie there wasn't really a hero to look up to. Even though Hitler helped India, he was still taking Jews and placing them in Death Camps. Gandhi on the other hand was very calm and didn't appear as much in the movie, so I really can't infer Gandhi as a hero. Gandhi was a good person and all but he didn't get India's independence. But there were qualities from the both of them. Gandhi was very particular of keeping thing settle and quiet. He really didn't think fighting was a was a way to solve a problem but to find another way to handle it peacefully. And Hitler, he was helpful to India and actually fought against the British.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in the story of Vichy France were the members of the Resistance. They had their country invaded, divided, and controlled by an immensely intimidating government and they still were not scared to fight back. These people took it upon themselves to rise up against the Nazis despite the sheer intimidation. And they won their country back, they fought for freedom and weren't prepared to be told no. They knew what was wrong and what was right, and they fought for what they believed in
ReplyDeleteThe hero in my story was Ivan. The quality that made him a hero was that he was driven by losing his family in the war. No, there are no qualities I specifically desire to have because of my topic.
ReplyDeleteIn my story the hero was "Hatch", who was played by Sylvester Stallone. He was the goalie although he wasn't very good. I would say the character was the hero because he was the brains behind the whole escaping process. He actually escaped twice in the movie. In order to be a hero in this time you would have to be brave and have a lot of courage. Hatch never lacked courage. This would be one quality that Hatch has inspired me to have after I watched the movie.
ReplyDeleteBased on what I have learned about the Battle on Leningrad, I would have to say the heroes were the very few survivors but no one in particular. During that time period many survivors did become national heroes with honor but they were also heroes in my eyes. They were a representation of the beautiful quality of hope since so many people died with nothing to hope for. I do aspire to be strong-willed and hopeful just like the survivors at Leningrad.
ReplyDeleteIn my movie, A Bridge Too Far, it seemed that the real heroes were the soldiers who were dead or wounded during Operation Market Garden. The movie intensifies moments of victory and of morbid death that the troops faced. There were moments in which I truly felt the pain that the soldiers were going through. There was one point in the film where the troops had to cross a river in a groups on British raft boats. They were basically waiting to be bombed and the fear of the unknown faced many of the men. Even with these conditions, some troops sung. Others prayed the Hail May aloud together. It is that kind of courage and trust in God that I want to have some day. The film ends with the soldiers in the infirmary (all wounded with different bullet holes or torn limbs) moaning or shouting with pain, but then silence overcomes them and a sense of pride takes over as they sing together.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my story were not all obvious. Especially in Mama and the mayor's wife it is not at first obvious that they would be the ones to offer help given their reserved and severe nature. But as the story progresses and character development becomes more obvious Liesal befriends the mayors wife and even begins to learn to appreciate her new mother. The mother's character is so complex in itself that she appears greedy and selfish but agrees to take in Liesal as well as Max even though they were very short on food to begin with. I think these heroes are very important to recognize because even though they may not have seemed like the most obvious choices they ended up being the most important in regards to the storyline.
ReplyDeleteBased on what I learned about my movie the "Desert Fox" the hero in my story was Rommel. He understood that Hitler was a cruel and evil man and tried to stop him. Rommel wanted to fight for his country, but not for Hitler. So he attempted to kill him with a bomb. Rommel was thoughtful of his soldiers, his prisoners of war, and his family. He believed he should suffer the same as his soldiers. He saved British prisoners of war that were going to be executed for not calling off bombing raids where they were being held. Rommel committed suicide, as requested by Hitler, to keep his son and wife safe. He was a man of strong ethics and compassion for others during very hard times. He gave his life for his family. He was a hero.
ReplyDeleteBased on my film, Letters from Iwo Jima, I believe there was several heroes. I think Saigo was a hero because he helped save some friends in the war. Also, I would say the Americans are heroes because after the war, the Americans saved Saigo and aided him. This was very heroic because American soldiers helped save the enemy. The particular qualities all of the heroes have is courage and sacrifice. These are qualities I aspire to have because in order to have relationships or people you have to be able to sacrifice. Courage makes you a better person and more humble.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my story were those five Tuskegee Airmen, nothing special about them, just five African Americans fighting for America. But I think what really made them really stand out was even though they were surrounded by racism, and the Jim Crow rules, they continued to fight for the people who were racists and were judging them by their skin color. As a young African American man, I must be as strong as those 5 men were because there still is racism and now the police are killing, instead of warning somebody first so I must be strong.
ReplyDeleteAlthough characters in movies seem to be heroes we always have to remember that with true stories there was actually always a true, living hero that was once out there in the world. Based on my topic my heroes, in my story, were the three Bielski brothers. They were named Tuvia, Asael, and Zus; these men all had many traits that made them heroes. They all were very generous; they gave all the supplies they could to the people in the camp to keep them safe. They also were all kind; they were nice and caring to all of those in the camp to make them feel welcomed! The real true hero, in my opinion, from the story was the one and only Tuvia Bielski. Not only was he all of the things I mentioned above, but he also was a strong leader. He led his people, in the camp, in the hardest times to keep them safe. That is a quality of a true hero. From my topic I have seen two traits that I aspire to have; leadership and being generous. I think these qualities are both hard to have! Leadership is not just a title you can grab out of thin air you have to earn it. You have to make decisions that are good for everyone, not just yourself and you have to be ready not to get approval from everyone when trying your best. Being generous is hard as well because when you earn something you don’t want to just give it away, but in hard times being generous does mean doing this. Being generous and a leader are both hard traits to gain, but once you do you become a better person and that is why I want to gain these traits.
ReplyDeleteBased on the film I watched, the hero was John Miller. John was an american and the Chinese and Japanese saw him as very modern and advance man. There is one thing that stood out to me was that this american tried his best to keep everyone safe while trying to repair a truck so they could all escape far from Nanking and far from the Imperial Japanese Army.
ReplyDeleteThe hero in my story was the main character Hannah. She is a hero because she was willing to give up her own life to save her friend. This is a very selfless act and it shows that she cared enough about her friend and her well being that she didn't care what was to happen to her. I feel that is a true hero someone who is willing to fight for the right thing. People who endured the prosecution and hardships that came with being in the concentration camps I feel have such strong will and courage. I would aspire to have the confidence , faith, will, and courage they did.

ReplyDeleteThe Hero in my Movie would be considered the main character Robert E. Lee Pewitt (Montgomery Clift). The qualities he had that would make him a hero in the story are his traits of loyalty, kindness, and perseverance. I believe these are all good qualities to have, especially in context with this movie. But all traits can do as much harm as good.
In "Stalingrad" there were four heroes. It was a group of men in the Nazi army who looked out for everyone and I mean everyone. The men's names were GeGe, Fritz Reisers, Otto, and most importantly Leutnant Hans von Witzland. I want to be like them in the way that they are are so generous! They gave up their food at one point and gave it to the Russians.
ReplyDeleteIn my film there isn't a specific character that can be pinpointed as the hero. However, an element of heroism was displayed by Hoffman, a member of the sonderkommando, when he found and attempted to save a young girl still alive after the chamber was gassed. The little girl is also somewhat of a hero in the audience's eyes because she symbolizes innocence and bravery when she attempts to escape.
ReplyDeleteThey heroes in my story were Captain John Miller and his team. They were brave and travelled far, just to find one man. They complained about this job, but did it anyway. The qualities that made them heroes is their bravery and inability to quit, even when they thought they had no more clues to find Private Ryan. The quality they have that I aspire to have is their bravery. In real life at the event on the bridge, I would want the durability of one of the soldiers. Lieutenant Booker was shot in both legs and STILL encouraged the men on.
ReplyDeleteThe "heroes" in my movie are Aubrey Stamps,Corporal Hector Negron,Sam Train and Sergeant Bishop Cummings. What made them all heroes is the fact that they fought in the war and crossed enemy lines. If I had to chose one of these men as the real hero I would chose Sam Train, because he save the little Italian boy named Angelo. Sam Train showed great bravery by doing this. This is one characteristic that I would want to have.
ReplyDelete'Millions Like Us' featured women working in factories―as well as other occupations too― and the men who were apart of the army. One might say that the heroes can be identified immediately: the army men. There was definitely an immense amount of heroism from the army men during WW2. But, my film was based on the work of women in factories, thus implying that they were the actual heroes. Throughout the film, the women showed patience and tolerance. They worked repetitiously, and didn't stop, because they had to make components to help the men win the war. This leading me to think, that the women were the heroes of the film, and one of the many heroes of WW2 itself. Patience and tolerance are qualities that I aspire to have, because they are quite important to have in life. Rather its patience for something as simple as a burger from Wendy's, or something as big as waiting for a war that drones on to end, so repetitive work can come to a cease, this quality is of importance. As said nowadays, "not all heroes wear capes" is true for the women of factories, they wore overalls, and yet truly displayed discreet heroic qualities.
ReplyDeleteMy film "Das Boot" had heroes in the form of members of the crew of an U-Boat. Specifically the captain, the second and command, and the nazi propaganda worker who was on board the U-Boat. The men showed no fear and were able to go through any trials that they were forced through. They had faith in their country but also thought for themselves. These men would through down their lives for any other member of the crew. I aspire to be selfless and be able to walk into any thing and have faith in your self. These are traits that my hero show and they are traits that if we all had this world would be a much easier place to live in.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my story were those who were imprisoned in the POW camps. They fought for their country, risked their lives, and went through German internment camps with pride and devotion to the USA. Some men traveled 900+ miles through the Europe's geography and climate. Every man who was a prisoner of war should be considered a hero, due to the hardships they faced, the struggles they fought, the lives they continued to live once liberation came, and the legacy they left behind, which still have impact on our society today. Their lasting imprint is what makes them heroic. A true hero will be remembered for what they have endured and accomplished, both attributes of which all WWII POWs certainly have. They also had qualities of determination, devotion, pride, and strength, adding to their heroism. I aspire to have each and every one of their qualities. It is only because of their character that they survived POW camps such as Stalag Luft III, and Stalag Luft VII. And with their attributes which I aspire to have, I could have courage through hardships as well.
ReplyDeleteIn Saints and Soldiers, Corporal ‘Deacon” Greer, played by Corbin Allred, goes through a series of mental breakdowns throughout the movie and has hallucinations. It’s not until later in the movie we learn that a couple days ago he had thrown a grenade into a building, thinking that there were Germans hiding in there, and had killed two women and six children. What makes him a hero is that while he was trying to do good, he had accidentally killed civilians. He knew he had done wrong, had a dirty conscience and had hallucinations of the people he had killed. This makes him a hero because that incident stayed with him and haunted him. He didn’t brush it off like it was no big deal, like some people did. Most people in the war were so used to death and killing each other that when they killed someone they didn’t think twice about it. They felt their actions were only about winning the war whatever way possible. The quality of having a conscience and trying to make right of something wrong you did is a quality that I aspire to have.
ReplyDeleteThe hero of the film "Empire of the Sun" is a young boy named Jamie Graham. At first, Jamie is a privileged British boy, living with his parents in Shanghai. However, after his parents are taken away and he is taken to an internment camp, he is put through harsh conditions. Jamie is brave. He nearly starves to death in the camp, but he still makes it out alive. I think the perseverance he had was a very heroic quality.
ReplyDeleteIn the film Lore… it is really dfficult to honestly say who is the ultimate "hero" of the story. On the first hand, you could just say the main character, Lore, is. But she did receive a lot of help from a camp escapee, Thomas. He had papers needed when American officers ask, claimimg that Lore and her 4 siblings were his. I wouldnt say that Thomas has particularly , admirable qualities I'd like to have. He did steal the papers and was passing the man in the files as himself. He also lied a lot to anyone he had to. Lore didn't trust him herself, and was really only keeping him around for the sake of her siblings (her being only 14). But Lore being the hero, was only doing as instructed by her mother: taking care of her siblings, and getting them to Omi's (grandmother's).
ReplyDeleteIn Red Tails, the Red Tails were the heroes because they proved that they were capable of completing their missions and being good fighter pilots. They were heroes because they protected the bombers and each other. They were also heroes to the black community because they proved that African-Americans were able to the same things as the white people, if not better. The fact that they were the underdogs in the movie and in life foreshadowed that they'd be the victors or heroes. I wish I had the ability to set a goal, work towards it, keep going when times get hard, and achieve those goal like they did. I tend to give up when the going gets tough.
ReplyDeleteIn Days Of Glory the heroes where Nina and Yelena played by Tamera Toumanova and Maria Palmer. The thing that made these two women heroes is that even though they werent men they fought in a war and gave there lives for the war. Being sent on dangerous missions not knowning what to expect and even though they were discriminated because of there gender they still did what no one thought they could do.
ReplyDeleteBased off of my topic, the heroes were all the men who fought and died in the battle of Iwo Jima. They didn't have to have any qualities about them that made them heroes, other then the simple fact that a lot of these men died in battle. Every one of these Marines and Sailors would have easily took a bullet for there fellow man without hesitation at any given moment. Often times that was how they died. I believe that they didn't have to have any hero like qualities because most of these men were drafted into the military and was forced to fight regardless if they wanted to or not. A quality that I would like to have based off of my topic would be the ability to stay strong when your far away from the ones you love. Most U.S fighters were young men who were still living with there parents. They were stripped from there parents and some never returned home. That's a personal fear that I have, to die in the military and not come back home alive to see the ones who I need to live for.
ReplyDeleteBecoming more familiar with my topic, a character in Jakob the Liar really stood out to me and displayed the characteristics of a true hero. That character was Jakob himself played by Robin Williams. Jakob should be considered a hero because he took care of a child, Lina, who had escaped off a train and was told to leave her parents if she wanted any chance of survival. He hid her in his house, fed her and made sure she was well. He went out of his way to make her smile like dancing with her to the music on the made up radio and telling her stories of his day. Jakob did all this in order to take her mind off what was happening inside and outside of the ghettos. After learning about my topic, I aspire to have the qualities of putting people before myself and being a good listener to someone in need. By having those qualities, you can be the hero in someones life which in turn will make you feel like a really good person.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my film, were all of those who served in the war. The particular qualities they had that really presented them as heroes, was their braveness. They went into the war with no fears, even though there was a high chance they could be killed, they fought for our country and helped us be free. Without them, our country would not be in the good state it was today. The qualities I aspire to have, based on watching how the heroes in my movie acted, was to be brave and confident. Without being brave and confident, they may not have won the war. Without them being courageous, more men could have been killed. I strive to be brave and confident in a time of doubt.
ReplyDeleteBased on my movie I really didn't think of the people doing the right thing as " heroes" . My movie was set in a courtroom. So I guess you could say the jury and the judges would be the heroes of this story. There weren't many distinctive qualities that would show them as heroes. But they do have qualities about them that I do aspire to have. Such as being so sure with themselves, and doing so well under a lot of pressure. They came to many conclusions that I could t even try to wrap my head around. They pleased everyone even when you thought they weren't able to. The we're courageous and brave for doing what they had to do. They settled many disputes that people thought were going to go unnoticed. In did it in a scholarly way!
ReplyDeleteIn my story, all of the French/African soldiers were heroes. In many ways actually. They were treated badly, and yet still stood on that front line to fight for their homes and every one else who needed them to. They stuck it out through harsh conditions. They still kept their composure knowing that tonight could be their last. They fought for freedom, they fought for everyone at home. I do aspire to have the certain qualities they have. Like being tough, trustworthy, and being under any condition necessary to be a hero to others.
ReplyDeleteIn the movie, “The Tin Drum” Oskar, a boy who didn’t want to grow up with the war around him is portrayed as the hero. He “fought” against Germany by refusing society with a tin drum that he used to cause a disruption when upset. He made it pretty clear when he didn’t agree with something, which is a quality that I aspire to have. Oskar knew what was and wasn’t right and that he didn’t have to put up with it. I aspire to be able to do something when I don’t necessarily agree with something (even if that something isn’t as extreme as stunting my growth), which might make me a hero too.
ReplyDeleteThe hero's are the men and women in the French Foreign Legion that trained in unforgiving conditions like the blazing sun, the lack of water, and the pain, but they push through it all. They give there lives to stand in what they believe in. But the people that live through there efforts are not always back to what they were before. This is what I believe is a hero. I hope I could someday have some of these qualities determination in what ever I do when I get older
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my story were: Wladyslaw Szpilman because he miraculously survived the war without going to a concentration camp and became an inspiration to others and continued to play and compose his music until the day he died in 2000, WIlm Hosenfeld because he saved many Jews including Szpilman despite being a Nazi himself, and all of the people who were part of the Underground who helped the Jews escape. Wilm and the people Szpilman knew who were part of the Underground, were especially compassionate and caring, and they wanted to help people because they knew how unjust the things Hitler did to everyone were and they knew that they could be caught, and if they were, they'd be killed, painfully they did what was right despite the consequences, they were role models, they were heroes. I would like to be like them, willing to die for these people because I believe what is being done to them is wrong.
ReplyDeleteIn the movie Black Book, the main role and hero was Rachel Stein. She watched her family be assassinated, and investigates for justice. I believe Rachel was a 'hero' because she had honored the many Jews that were murdered like her family. She was a spy, someone who was brave, and found the truth. A true hero in my opinion, is an individual that conquers their own struggles, does something for someone else, or is brave in the face of danger. Rachel was all three, and even though I hope to never be in her situation, I hope that if I was, I would react like she did.
ReplyDeleteAll heroes, even those that spring to mind instantly like Nelson Mandela or Mahatma Gandhi, possess flaws. These imperfections can be subtle or omnipresent, but are always exhibited in some shape or form. The consistent characteristic of heroes is their will to succeed and the magnitude to which they succeed. During the French Resistance, the heroic characters were those who displayed personal fortitude, utter dedication, and cleverness; they also inspired the same traits in those around them. Conventionally, the admirable attributes of heroes outweigh their deficiencies or shortcomings, but the characters in Army of Shadows were exceedingly more complex than the black and white blandness of many fictional characters. Shockingly, the hero was not the protagonist but rather the secondary character of Mathilde who, despite her betrayal of the resistance, executed mission after mission expertly and never left any of her comrades behind. Heroes are, by trade, meritorious. Naturally, their commendable qualities are desirable to most and I am no exception. In saying that, while I do wish I beheld heroic features, I am not keen on the rush of adrenaline that accompanies feats of bravery. In other words, my aptitude to be heroic does not correlate with the probability of me becoming a so-called “hero”. I’ve never been one to window shop, but fiction presents us with covetous personas who are rare in reality and difficult, if not impossible to emulate.

ReplyDeleteThe hero’s in my story were truly the soldiers fighting on Normandy beach. These were the people who had the most heroic qualities than any of the other characters in the movie The Longest Day. There was not just one soldier, but all of them were truly hero’s. To be a hero the first thing that I think of as a heroic quality would be is bravery. The soldiers had so much bravery. To have so many people shooting at you in a war and still go in and have your head held high is bravery to me. Also to have strength. Not in muscle like in a hero you would see in cartoons, but strength to go into a war, come out and live and still have emotional and physical strength to keep on going is a hero too. There are so many things that I aspire to be just like these soldiers had. Bravery, courage, valor, and most of all to be so kind-hearted to the people they were fighting for.
ReplyDeleteIn my film, Monuments Men, there were many heroes. In my film they were fairly easy to identify. (The heroes were the monuments men.) What made them the heroes was the fact that they risked their lives going through war to try to return the stolen art. They were brave, courageous, selfless, kind, and motivated. These qualities are some that I aspire to have.
ReplyDeleteI think the heroes in my story were the men who belonged to the commando team and the woman from the resistance. I wouldn't say they had heroic qualities but then again they did. They performed there job perfectly and freed people at the same time, but then again that's there job that's not really showing us as the audience if they truly want to help or they were forced into it and it's just there job.I aspire to be able to get whatever task I have at hand done but, I also aspire to be selfless in the process.
ReplyDeleteIn my movie (Life is Beautiful) there was a hero to his son during WWII. Guido Orefice was a hero by telling his son (while at a concentration camp) that all of this is a game and if they do what they are told they will get a big prize. this gave the little boy hope for tomorrow and kept him happy in times of chaos. Guido saved his sons life and ended up getting killed for it. If that isn't a true hero I don't know what is. I aspire to be like Guido was because he was brave, clever, funny and caring just to keep a person he loves safe.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my movie were Winston Churchill, Theodore Roosevelt, and the other Allied forces. Some qualities that they had was their perseverance, confidence, and hopefulness. These qualities helped make them heroes because it got them through everything. A quality I have learned from the movie Into the Storm was perseverance.
ReplyDeleteIn my film the hero was all based off perspective. If you were a Nazi then Salomon Sorowitsch was a hero since he was the only who could make the banknotes to destroy the British economy. But if you were in Britain then he really wasn't a hero. Also Salomon was a hero to the Jews as well. He kept them positive and saved a lot of them from getting in trouble with the Nazi's. The only qualities from Salomon would be how positive he is. He was stuck in a concentration camp doing very hard work for people that could kill him any second but he still managed to stay positive. I think that's a quality we should all have.
ReplyDeleteThe hero in my film (Ashes and Diamonds) was Maciek, and although he was a fictional character, he had certain heroic qualities to him, such as being able to go through with a mission assigned to him by his higher officers (the assassination of a German general) that would lead to the freedom and independence of his nation (Poland) against the Germans. Although Maciek and his mission have flaws, I admire his courage to be able to do such a thing for the insurance of national independence.
ReplyDeleteThe hero in my move " Grave of the Fireflies" was Seita, the big brother. He had this quality of kindness, and of determination that made him a true hero. He was only fourteen years old and had to care for himself and his little four year old sister by himself during war times. Finding a place to stay, finding food, and getting away from the violence for as long as possible. Also trying to ease the pain for his little sister as much as he could because she was too young to understand what was happening. The qualities that I aspire to have are; always stay positive and have hope because without it, it seems as if all is lost.
ReplyDeleteWell , personally I thought everyone in my movie was a hero.even the Japanese . To the Japanese , they were being heroes and Doing what was right . To the Americans , they were being heroes and doing what was right. I think all of them are heroes because they fought in a war , and fighting for your country is very brave and heroic . But, one of the main heroes in "The Thin Red Line"
ReplyDeleteWas Private Witt. mostly because he had to leave his family , and it shows flashbacks of his wife and days he spent with her , and then it cuts back to fighting which makes people feel bad for him and then they realize how brave he is for going out and doing that for his country . Also in the end (SPOILER) he gets killed. And whenever main characters get killed they are seen as heroes .. Not to mention he died serving the country and protecting what he believed in . I think that bravery is something that hero's should have . I think they should have fear , but be able to face it in the end .
I woukd like to be brave . I think being brave is something rare. What is considered brave anymore anyways ?
I usually think bravery as slaying the dragon
Or facing your fear
maybe that's why I never thought of myself as "brave ". As for aspiring to be brave , I mean really the only thing I aspire to be is true to myself . I feel like the rest will come with that .
I would have to say all who were involved in plan Valkyrie were the real heroes . After they were killed, they were seen as the first to ever try to do something and fight back against Hitler inside of the Nazis. They were able to see the wrong in what Hitler was doing while others were blinded. That's a trait that I really do admire.
ReplyDeleteIn my film, The Boy in The Striped Pajamas, 2 people stuck out to me as the heroes of the story. The 1st one being Bruno. Bruno was an 8 year old boy who excepted that pavel, a man, and Shmuel, a young boy in a concentration camp, were Jewish and still spoke to them kindly and became friends with them. He even goes into the concentration camp to help Shmuel find his father. The 2nd hero I believe to be Pavel. This is because when Bruno falls off of a tire swing he doesn't hesitate to help him. No matter what he had gone through or how much pain he was in, he still helped Bruno and spoke with him. He showed kindness when no one had been kind to him. He was caring and kind and those are 2 qualities I aspire to have.
ReplyDeleteMy movie did have a movie star in it. He played the main character. He is the main character because he executed the character well and really showed that some of Nazi Germans didn't like Hitler and they really wanted to kill him. So he was a hero in my eyes even though he was just a movie star. he was Klaus Maria Brandauer
ReplyDeleteOskar Schindler - a very prominent character - was an anti-hero. His original interests were to create strong ties with powerful people in the Nazi Party to make money of the war effort. He cared less what happened to the thousands of innocent people being persecuted. As time transpired, Schindler became principle based and did everything in his power to help and save as many people as possible. He became selfless, spending his entire fortune to save as many of the Poles and Jews who worked in his factory as possible. I aspire to become more selfless and generous, just as Schindler became.
ReplyDeletePatton, a great movie about a great man. The hero of the story, obviously being Patton, was an honest man who never failed to tell his men the truth and stand up for his country. This particular character was written as having many desirable qualities, most important being standing up for what he believed in. This is what describes a hero to everyone in the media, film or other, making it much easier for George S. Scott to seem more heroic. I now aspire to have the brutal honesty of General Patton, though there aren't many who were as honest as he. I believe this is a quality desired by many besides myself.
ReplyDeleteGenerally speaking, the hero doesn't know that s/he is the hero. This also applies to the main point of Catch 22: the insane person doesn't know s/he's insane. The heroes in my story are the bombardiers all the way up to there bitter insanity. These were men that dropped bombs from aircrafts. Some were deemed "sane" because they claimed to be insane. These bombardiers drove themselves insane flying endless missions, dropping countless bombs. They are heroes because pushed through fighting for their country's safety, and followed orders all the way to the breaking point. I aspire to have their endurance and determination.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my film, The Last Drop, are the seven characters that are left of operation matchbox. Their goal was to retrieve a hoard of Dutch gold and art treasures plundered by the Nazis. I think that they are the heroes of the movie because they showed a lot of bravery and loyalty throughout the movie. These are qualities that I aspire to have.
ReplyDeleteThe hero in my film was General Bonner Fellers because he had involvement in the Reconstruction of Japan and he made Americans look like better people in the Japanese's eyes. Also he made the great decision on sparing Emperor Hirohito's life which made him look like a hero in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have seen from my research and my media, the real heroes are the people who fight in the war, as well as the people who keep things together during and after the war. Many veterans would have to go through extremely difficult mental problems, such as PTSD, and would have to deal with these disorders while trying to live normal lives. The heroes were also the women who would keep the country together, while the men were in the war.
ReplyDeleteIn my story, both in real life and in my movie, the heroes were the assassins of Heydrich "The Hangman of Prague". These men were courageous enough to defy top SS orders and disobey the Reich completely in the attempted murder of Heydrich, all to free Czechoslovakia from Nazi control. These men needed, and indeed had excessive amounts of courage and grit to pull off the plan they had. After researching and watching a film on this topic I hope I get the chance to develop the pure determination this group had to prepare for and pull off the assassination attempt of a truly evil man.
ReplyDeleteIn my movie, "Fat Man and Little Boy," the hero is ultimately Robert Oppenheimer .However he is not your normal idea of a hero, and the movie does a very good job of showing how flawed of a person he was. From arguing with General Groves to his affair to the fact that he was in charge of a bomb which killed thousands and thousands of people, Oppenheimer really doesn't exhibit the qualities that come to mind when thinking of a hero. He remains to be the film's hero because of his intelligence, ambition, and perseverance. Oppenheimer was faced with many moral dilemmas and opposition from people, especially General Groves. In spite of these obstacles, he accomplished what he set out to do and showed how incredibly intelligent he was, even though he lacked good judgment. There are many qualities that Oppenheimer possessed that I really hope I will never have, but his intelligence, ambition, and perseverance are qualities I aspire to have. If I end up having these qualities, I would definitely use them for different things (aka not to build atomic bombs), but I do aspire to have those qualities.
ReplyDeleteIn the movie Attack, the hero is Lt. Joe Costa because he is brave and understands how to handle the pressure of knowing that lives are at risk. Lt. Costa is a natural leader of men. He may have an ongoing feud with Lt. Cooney but he shows him how to have leadership and how to get through the pressure of war. Lt. Costa gives Lt. Cooney confidence in what he does which helped Lt. Cooney with future decisions he had to make on his own. The advice given to Lt. Cooney from Lt. Costa also saved many lives in the future.
ReplyDeleteI aspire the quality leadership because its a good thing to have in situations. Even situations that aren't as serious as war.
I've found what makes my film so moving is that Anne Frank, while the supposed "hero" of the story, was not that of a hero, but a protagonist. The movie was a little dishonest in leaving out the feisty and stubborn side to Anne. Either way, those who hear this story are rooting for her the whole way through because of how she is just a normal teenage girl who is having not-so-ordinary circumstances brought upon her. Despite all that is going on, she prevails to rise above these conditions of being locked away and stays passionate about what she strives to do: be an excellent writer who touches the heart of many. And Anne Frank does just that with the qualities of optimism and ambitiousness she embodies.

ReplyDeleteI honestly don't believe my story has a " hero" . Vin, I believe, was very brave because he went to war on a volunteer basis. Based on my research, I'd like to have the adaptability of the women during WWII.
ReplyDeleteIn my story there were no heroes. In my story, it was people getting basic human rights. In my story, the one thing I aspire to have is equality.
ReplyDeleteIn my movie, "What Did You Do In The War, Daddy?" Lieutenant Christian was the hero. He was the one who made majority of the decisions. He was pretty much the leader. During the movie, they had a festival. Sicily would only surrender of they were allowed to have their festival that night. So Lieutenant Christian came up with a plan the next day, to keep everyone from getting in trouble for allowing the Italians to have their festival. Lieutenant Christian was a very wise person during this movie. He thought things through. The quality that I would like to aspire is determination. All of the soldiers were very determined during the movie. They weren't going to leave without a fight. However, it turned out to be easier than they thought.
ReplyDeleteMy story was of two men from opposing sides of the war marooned on an island. They were finally forced to work together to survive after pointlessly fighting for over half the film. In my opinion, the hero in my story was nature. The island and the survival situation were what finally caused the two men to come together and build a raft to get off the island to survive (even though they die at the end anyway). Based on what I learned about my topic, I would not want to have the traits of the bullheaded “heroes” in this story since their only good trait is their loyalty to their countries which, as they learn, does nothing for them.
ReplyDeleteIn my movie, Sophie Scholl was the biggest hero. Not only was she a woman speaking her mind in a time where women barely had a voice, but she was going against one of the most cruel and ruthless regimes which made her so extremely brave. Throughout the story she was so kind and calm even when everyone was against her. Even when she stared death in the face she would not give up what she believed in, not even her faith. She will never be acknowledged or recognized enough for her efforts even though she deserves it so much because she really was a hero and I aspire to be like her.
ReplyDeleteIn my film, Audie Murphy was the film star and and a hero also. The main event that led Audie Murphy to become the most decorated soldier for combat action in military history of the U.S. was when he saved the day. On January 26, 1945, he climbed a burning tank destroyer and employed its 50 caliber machine gun against the enemy. He led him and the 3rd Infrantry Division to win the Medal of Honor. I feel Audie was a great hero after he did that because him loosing his life was at a high risk at the time. I aspire the quality confident because that tank destroyer could have blown up at any moment. I believe half or more of the rest of the U.S. soldiers would not have did such a thing.

ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my story were codebreakers and mathematicians that broke the German Enigma code and shortened the war by two years. Their intelligence made them likely to be heroes, and that they used it for good. I aspire to be as hardworking and as smart as the great men and women of Bletchley Park, and use that knowledge to create something amazing and powerful, and to improve life for all.
ReplyDeleteThe protagonist and his wife in my movie would be the the heroes because they support each other throughout the movie up until the end when the war is over and the protagonist's wife says "You must live." The protagonist always kept going on, even when bad things happened, which I think is the the heroic quality that stands out the most. The protagonist's wife had a disease that couldn't be cured during World War II, yet she still stayed strong to support the one she loved, which really made an impact on the protagonists life, and being able to make such an impact on a life is also a heroic quality that stands out. I would aspire to have the qualities of really being able to make a positive impact on peoples' lives like the protagonist's wife does in the film I watched.
ReplyDeleteThe heroes in my story were the soldiers who kept on working as best as they could through the circstances, even if the circumstances were fire from themselves. They had the quality of hope in them that made them able to push through to the end under whatever may come. I .one to believe that hope is a very admirable quality and I would be proud to have that quality. There is something to be said about someone who has hope above all.
ReplyDeleteIn my movie, Father Goose the hero was the main character named Walter Ecklen. He is a hero because he helped save a school teacher and her students to safety from enemy ships. He was brave. I aspire the quality of being brave because in some areas in my life I need to be brave.
ReplyDeletethe people in my stories who were seen as heroes were the people who stood up for what they believed in and did what they pleased, and not what the nazis and/or hitler youth wanted them to do. Such as Peter Muller, he was determined to make people see that jazz and swing music was something positive, and even after her join the hitler youth he still fought for what he believed. Peter had many qualities that made him more likely to be hero. He was very charming, opinionated and determined. There are many qualities that I aspire to have one day. Such as being motivated and determined, brave, and courageous.
