Question 6: Any other thoughts?

Do you have any other thoughts about this process?

  1. This project allowed me to expand my horizons on researching different topics. I've learned to dig deep to find primary sources like journal entries and helmets from the actual event. I have also learned that I shouldn't believe everything I watch on television. Although A Bridge Too Far was fairly accurate in replicating the operation, there were a few details that were not exactly correct. I've also realized how difficult it can be to explain an event from a different angle (or an inanimate object in the case). This project challenged me to think creatively from a different perspective on history, while accurately retelling the story of Operation Market Garden.

  2. Nope. It was really fun because I got to learn a lot using technology that is easy to use. I really got to go into detail about my topic.

  3. Nope. I learned a lot and don't have much more to say then that.

  9. You'e an awesome teacher, who thinks outside of the box to finds ways for your students to learn. I'm glad we had this project because I experienced a different way of researching.

  10. Overall this process was an enjoyable one. I enjoyed how art was incorporated into our studies, making it fun to learn about World War II. I think it was helpful that we watched a movie first to get the basis of our topic and then researching to find out what was true about the movie and what wasn’t. Although this project was a tough one, I enjoyed it because it allowed me to push myself to my limits and show myself what I was capable of doing; this made me feel proud of myself.

  11. I enjoyed this whole process that you have us doing. Thank you Ms.Andreadis for introducing me to this new experience. No further thoughts, no further questions.

  12. This project was actually an absolute joy― even though I procrastinated about half the time― and very different from anything I have ever done. I enjoyed creating my blog, and not having many boundaries, except the criteria that was expected to get a good grade. I was riveted by all the blogs, (I actually read all of them), to see all the great writing, and stories made from artifacts―truly impressive. Lastly, I really like how this specific project was so engaging, and for this generation of 'TECHNOLOGY'. Fun project!

  14. This method of learning was a great way to gain a greater understanding of the war ad in my opinion I think we should use this more often, I feel like I retain the information easier this way

  17. This project was definitely a creative one. I'm glad I had the opportunity to experience it. Although there were times where my mind was absolutely unable to think of any artifacts, and I procrastinated quite a bit, I thoroughly enjoyed the blogging aspect of it.

  18. I enjoyed this project and it made me actually think harder on life. This put me in the perspective of the Nazis. War really is terrible.

  19. This was a very educational project. I got to learn a lot of facts about my topic and about WWII. This was more entertaining then just writing a essay and I feel like I learned more too. Im glad I got to experience this.

  20. I enjoyed this project because it helped me improve my research skills and showed me the individual aspects of the lives of people living during World War II.

  21. Not really. I enjoyed what I learned and I learned that war can turn people into mindless animals, with a complete disregard for life and justice.

  23. Me personally don't have any other thoughts or comments besides that I liked the movie I watched and the movie part was fun (as I watched something I wouldn't have watched if not for this) but I thought this project was going to take a very different, less stressful, and more enjoyable, easygoing route than it did.

  24. I don't really have anything else to say. I really liked my film and I thank you for creating this project so that I was able to branch out and watch it.

  25. I actually ended up liking this experience with blogging and the research. This project has expanded my knowledge of my topic.

  26. This process gave me an opportunity to learn more about my topic than I would by simply watching my movie.

  27. It was a real project requiring true dedication and focus till the very last word/ detail. Working both in and outside of class was a true test on my abilities, and after the project, I can really say I think it served a good purpose, and left an imprint on me for future topics we learn about. The main point I want to make-and I don't I've stressed enough- is how movies change little things ,which can sometimes affect the whole movie. While movies such as Saving Private Ryan are really graphic and impressionable, most arent as detailed. That idea in particular was one of the key points lining this project.

  29. Just that I enjoyed my topic and how a movie can actually teach you something about a real event.

  30. This project has made me think more about World War II and the events that occurred during that time. I think that it was a fun, new way to do a research project and made me want to look more into World War II.

  31. This process was fun and educational all in one. What a way to keep teens engaged !

  32. I think this project really prepared some of us for the bussiness world and even college working on a project like this. It's not every day that you know 14 and 15 year old's who have there own blogs. This experience was very tricky but over all I enjoyed it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. This process was a lot more interesting than I originally thought it would be. The project helped me branch out with my topic and become more creative and detailed with my writing.

  35. This project was very interesting and was a great learning experience.

  36. Even though the blog took a lot of time. I found it very different and interesting, something other teachers probably wouldn't attempt to try!

    ReplyDelete
  37. This process really engaged the student and made them really think, which made them have to understand their topic. Also, with this you either did your work or you didn't. There was no way too cheat (there's always people in the class that do that sadly...) or try and get out of it. You really needed to focus and understand to get a good grade. I believe everyone did that, which is a job well done for the teacher.

  38. I'm not going to lie, when this project was first assigned, I DREADED it.. Haha. That's because I had no clue about how much I would learn from it. I got a ton of information about what it was like to be a soldier in WWII (my topic) and information on a bunch of other topics as well! P.S , I really enjoyed creating my own blog. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. No, I do not have any other thoughts on this process.

  40. The project was really great! It incorporated technology, art, history, and writing. It was interesting to learn about my ancestors who had a part in the war effort. I never would've known if it wouldn't have been for this project! It gave me an insight of what war is like, and all through the perspective of an inanimate object.

  41. This project made me feel actively engaged in what I was learning and was a fun and creative way for me to learn about WWII.

  43. The process was strenuous, but in the end proved to be rewarding. Originally, this project seemed daunting, but eventually I became confident in the quality and accuracy of my work. Between this project and the Around the World in 80 Days assignment I prefer this medium because of its organization properties (we could easily tell if we were lacking a significant part) and its accessibility. I have become quite learned on my subject and others' subjects. I was entertained by the choices in inanimate objects and appreciated the energy that was put into this assignment. The objective for this assignment was definitely met: a challenging, but unique way to engage all classes.

    ReplyDelete
  44. This project was very helpful and I learned a lot from it. It also helped that we got to use technology and we could easily share each other's work. Though it took a long time I think it was well worth it.

  45. This blog project was very fun. I love blogging, and this particular assignment helped me gain insight into the life of a renowned piano artist who lived through WWII and all the way to July of 2000. Wladyslaw Szpilman's story is very inspiring and I recommend watching 'The Pianist' to anyone. Also take a look at my blog "The Pianist" and II hope you like it. Thank you Ms. Andreadis for such a fun project.

  49. This was a very fun way of learning about a specific topic and made me feel active and more interested in what I was learning.

  50. The project was quite a bit of work, but it was very beneficial. I feel like I learned a lot more about a subject that I thought that I had already known all about, when there was so much more to be learned. Looking at all that I have accomplished in what seems to be a short amount of time makes me feel really good and rewarded by all of the effort that was needed for the project. I think that the whole project idea was creative and it was something that I actually enjoyed doing. It is a project that will give you a good outcome if you actually put in the energy.

  52. I found this process to be very entertaining and mind- stimulating. I found it enjoyable to be able to share my research, topic, and film with others in the form of a sort of story an would definitely use it again for future study.

  53. Well to be honest , I had always got World War One and World War Two confused ! So it's good to get that cleared up !!! And World War Two I think is my favorite because it's so interesting . I just think the holocaust is really interesting , sad .. But super fun to learn about at the same time .

  54. I do not have any other thoughts about this process other than it giving me a new perspective on how assignments can be done.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think this project was really hard since I had to speak from the perspective of an inanimate object and because my topic got really confusing with finding the other artifacts, but it was a good experience for me to step outside of my comfort zone a little bit.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think this assignment showed me a new way to look at history through art.

    ReplyDelete
  57. This is one of the most interesting research projects I have ever done. I liked how we learned more about WWII in a more in-depth way by watching a film about the WWII era.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I will say that this project was a good challenge to exercise my use of research attention to detail and appreciation of primary sources. I only wish my topic was expanded on more, in more than one genre of film. Although the film, "Army of shadows shows a different perspective on the topic I would like to see more adaptations on the French Resistance in other genres such as documentaries, television series, or even comedy. I hope to see more coverage on this topic that isn't as widely known as other events of WWII.

  62. I really enjoyed this project and I think it was a fun and creative way to learn more about WWII.

  63. This project was a very enjoyable one, that really forced me into understanding all aspects of the events I was researching.

  64. I really enjoyed this project. I like how it's different from other things I've done, but also it connects to something the whole grade did. I like how we all followed the same specific guidelines to create a blog that we all added our knowledge to. I also like how we all had the freedom to pick our own topics and interests to essentially do the same thing. And, if I might add, it was a lot more fun to do research when we didn't have to source every word we said.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I do not. The process, though trying ant times was very simple and easy to understand while still giving us challenging work. I believe this format is very helpful to the modern technology-savy students of today.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I really enjoy being able to see how my classmates interpreted this project. I also found I understood the project a lot more after I received my rubric and I find it interesting to see the ways I really could have expanded on my own blog.

    ReplyDelete
  67. No, I think I got a good understanding of WWII through this project.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The project was a little tedious and stressful to do. But all in all it was a great experience!

  69. No thoughts here, only empty space in my head.

    ReplyDelete
  70. This was a great experience and I learned a lot about World War II throughout the project,

    ReplyDelete
  71. I had trouble getting started because it seemed like so much more work than it actually was. I was actually fairly proud of what I made whereas in some projects the end result isn't as intriguing. And it was fun!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Not really. I'm just glad it's over

    ReplyDelete
  73. Only that there needed to be more time

    ReplyDelete
  74. This project gave me a great experience in researching. I learned a lot from this project. Not just about World War II, about different forms of art and also many ways to research and how to track our research. This project has taught me a lot about ways I can interpret things. Using film as an art, using an inanimate object to tell a story, and using a blog to track the progress of my research. It was a creative and surprisingly neat way to do this project.

    ReplyDelete
  75. This project was fun and intriguing, although I crunched myself for time. I hope we get to do something where we actually hear from our classmates in person about what they did!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I think that it was nice to have such a unique project, and that made it fun. However, I feel like it was confusing and very stressful as well. Even though I spent a lot of the time I had outside of class and rehearsal on this project, I felt like I didn't have enough to do the project to the best of my ability. Part of this is probably my fault, since I could've managed my time a bit better, but I still feel that even with coming in at lunch and after school when I had time and spending time after my rehearsals there just wasn't enough time for me to have done the project as well as I was capable of. Even though the project was very stressful, it was still pretty fun because it was a nice change of pace from boring research papers.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Wasn't too easy, wasn't impossible. I suppose that I personally found it difficult because I'm not usually a good writer.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I liked the amount of freedom we get in terms of presentation when we make a blog, and I really enjoy the idea of telling the story through an inanimate object so as to make sure there isn't repetition between the blogs. I have never really done a project quite like this so I'm definitely learning a lot from it, even though I didn't quite understand what the end product should be like. I think if I were to do a project like this again it would be beneficial to have a more detailed explanation of what to do and it would be great to see some past projects as examples.

  79. Finding primary resources was something of a struggle for me because friendly fire is not quite something that countries like to admit happened. I did greatly enjoy it though after all the stress was done and I enjoyed my movie.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I had trouble finding artifacts but that was just about it.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Nope, I have no further questions

    ReplyDelete
  82. I really enjoyed this project. It helped me to get a better understanding of what people went through during WWII. It was very interesting to get to see other peoples blogs and their different ideas and perspectives of WWII. This project has opened my eyes to perhaps blogging in the future as a way of not only studying but writing.
